PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTION PAPER
Education has been a part of our lives. We learn from school, but also from our family, friends, people we meet, things happening around us, and life itself. Talking of "quality education," to me it is bringing lifelong skills and knowledge into the learner, enabling them to improve and be prepared for the future. This includes lifelong learning that they can use to help make the world a better place. Sometimes I even questioned myself over the issues that I was to learn at a particular discipline, and you'd wonder yourself, "Why should I learn this?" or "How does it even relate with my future or course that I'm enrolled in?" All those now make perfect sense because I'm in senior high, everything now makes sense in the concept of quality education.
The educators and the learners face critical problems in the educational industry. For the educators, they face problems balancing work and life-time management of their students' time and their time for self-directed learning and keeping abreast with the learners. I heard that this is a challenge because a teacher confided in me how scared she was that the learner may not like her or would not be interested to the topic. They read and know what is to be taught exactly like the students. The challenges that the learners suffer from are ,poor management of time, academic pressure, mental health challenges. These factor touch the life of the teacher and the learner each from within, affecting their day-to-day lives and their physical and mental health as it involves basic personal needs.
Quality education contributes to the empowerment and economic growth, environmental literacy, and social equality in the development of our society. One illustration is the Philippines K-12 Education system introduced around 2012-2013. The system has established a more proficient and dynamic workforce through offering students specialized tracks. Now, the K-12 system has been replaced with the Matatag curriculum, a reformed and enhanced K-12 Education.
Recent past Rapid technological advance has significantly affected the quality of education. Technology aided both the educator and the learner in completing tasks, research, and access resources that have made self-directed learning easier and quite achievable. Among these are the facilitation of easy tasks and research, ease in the facilitation of resources for use in different aspects of life, and easy facilitation for self-directed learning. The downside could include too much reliance by students on technology.
